A pre-post comparison study combining herbal medicine (modified Gwibi-tang) and moxibustion treatment at CV4 in 64 women diagnosed with luteal phase defect. After 3 months of treatment, luteal phase progesterone levels significantly increased from an average of 4.2 ng/mL to 8.7 ng/mL, with luteal phase duration also extended by an average of 2.3 days.

Summary

A meta-analysis of 22 RCTs (1,856 patients) evaluating effects of herbal medicine treatment in women with ovulation disorder. Ovulation rate of the herbal medicine administration group was 74.3%, significantly higher than the clomiphene alone group (62.1%), with also improved follicle maturation and endometrial thickness. Adverse event incidence was markedly lower in the herbal medicine group.

Herbal medicine treatment is effective for ovulation rate improvement in women with ovulation disorder and is a safe alternative with fewer side effects compared to existing ovulation induction agents.
