An RCT comparing Sihosogan-san and ibuprofen in 88 women with cyclic mastalgia. After 3 months of treatment, mastalgia VAS scores decreased by 71% (6.9 to 2.0) in the Sihosogan-san group, more effective than the ibuprofen group (58% reduction). Mammary edema on breast ultrasound also significantly decreased.

Sixteen RCTs (1,680 patients) evaluating bone density improvement effects of herbal medicine treatment for postmenopausal osteoporosis were systematically reviewed. Lumbar BMD increased by an average of 3.2% and femoral neck BMD also increased by 2.1% in the herbal medicine administration group. Bone formation marker (osteocalcin) increased while bone resorption marker (CTX) decreased, showing bidirectional effects.

A case series of combined herbal medicine (modified Yongdamsagan-tang) and pharmacopuncture (bee venom pharmacopuncture) treatment in 12 women complaining of chronic pelvic inflammatory disease sequelae (chronic lower abdominal pain, increased discharge). After average 8 weeks of treatment, lower abdominal pain VAS decreased from 6.8 to 2.1, with also normalized inflammatory markers including CRP.

Need for surgery also significantly decreased.

Menstrual duration was also shortened by an average of 2.1 days.
