Summary

A randomized controlled trial evaluating the effect of yang-tonifying prescriptions (combined deer antler, Epimedium, Cuscuta) in 68 patients with erectile dysfunction with testosterone deficiency. After 16 weeks of administration, total testosterone increased by an average of 1.9 ng/mL, and IIEF-5 scores also improved by an average of 6.4 points. A significant positive correlation between both indicators was confirmed.

A cross-sectional study analyzing the bladder function improvement effect of moxibustion treatment at Gwanwon, Junggeuk, and Gihae acupoints in 54 men with overactive bladder symptoms. After 8 weeks of moxibustion treatment 3 times weekly, daily urination frequency on voiding diary decreased from an average of 11.4 to 7.8 times, and urgency frequency also decreased significantly. Functional bladder capacity on bladder ultrasound increased.

After 6-9 months of administering pattern-based herbal medicine (Ojayeonjong-hwan, Gwirokbocheon-tang) and acupuncture treatment to men, 6 out of 8 couples (75%) successfully achieved natural pregnancy. Semen parameter improvements were significantly associated with pregnancy success.

A systematic review and meta-analysis analyzing the effect and safety of pharmacopuncture treatment for male lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). Thirteen clinical trials (total 847 subjects) were included, and the bee venom and wild ginseng pharmacopuncture administration group showed an average IPSS reduction of 5.1 points, with significant prostate volume reduction also confirmed. Adverse reaction incidence was mild at 4.7%.
