Summary

Ten patients with keloid developed after surgery underwent combined thread-embedding therapy and anti-inflammatory pharmacopuncture for 16 weeks. Keloid volume, hardness, and color index significantly decreased, with improvements also observed on Vancouver Scar Scale (VSS). At 6-month follow-up after treatment, only 1 case of recurrence occurred.

Key Conclusion

Combined thread-embedding and pharmacopuncture therapy reduces keloid size and hardness and is a non-invasive Korean medicine treatment with low recurrence rate.

Summary

Acupuncture treatment courses of 145 patients with palmoplantar hyperhidrosis were retrospectively analyzed. In cold-pattern patients, tonifying-centered acupuncture treatment was more effective, while in heat-pattern patients, heat-clearing-centered acupuncture treatment showed higher effects. Overall, sweat volume decreased by an average of 43.2% after acupuncture treatment.

Sixty patients with common warts were randomly assigned to compare moxibustion plus Coix lacryma-jobi herbal medicine and cryotherapy alone groups for 12 weeks. Complete wart disappearance rate in the Korean medicine treatment group was similar to the cryotherapy group, and 12 weeks later, new wart occurrence rate was significantly lower in the Korean medicine treatment group.

The Korean medicine treatment group showed significant decreases in PASI, joint tender count, and CRP levels. Concurrent improvement of skin and joint symptoms was characteristic.
