Combination therapy including herbal medicine (modified Yukmijihwang-tang), acupuncture, and scalp pharmacopuncture was performed for 16 weeks on 52 patients with female pattern baldness. Medical records of 200 patients with acute herpes zoster were retrospectively analyzed to compare pain control effects between acupuncture combination and antiviral alone groups. A randomized controlled trial comparing bee venom pharmacopuncture treatment versus gabapentin was conducted in 64 patients with post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN). Korean medicine interventions used in vitiligo treatment were systematically reviewed. Analysis of 19 studies including herbal medicine (modified Bojungikgi-tang, Yukmijihwang-tang), acupuncture, and topical preparations showed significantly higher repigmentation rates in the Korean medicine treatment group compared to controls. Treatment response rates were particularly excellent in the qi-blood deficiency pattern.
