A cross-sectional study analyzing hormonal changes from pharmacopuncture (Angelica, Cnidium pharmacopuncture) treatment in 92 women with oligomenorrhea (cycle 40 days or longer). The pharmacopuncture treatment experience group showed FSH/LH ratio closer to normal range, with significantly higher estradiol levels. Stress-related cortisol levels also tended to be lower.

Summary

Fifteen RCTs (total 1,284 patients) evaluating acupuncture effects on chronic pelvic pain related to endometriosis were systematically reviewed. The acupuncture group showed average 2.8-point reduction in chronic pelvic pain VAS scores, with also significantly alleviated dyspareunia and dyschezia. Adverse events were markedly fewer compared to GnRH agonists.

Key Conclusion

An RCT comparing combined herbal medicine (modified Sobokchugeo-tang) and acupuncture therapy with GnRH agonists in 96 women diagnosed with adenomyosis. After 6 months of treatment, pain reduction rate in the Korean medicine combination treatment group (68%) was similar to the GnRH group (72%), but recurrence rate after treatment completion was markedly lower in the Korean medicine group (22%) compared to GnRH group (58%).

Key Conclusion

Korean medicine combination treatment shows effects similar to GnRH agonists for pain management of adenomyosis, with lower recurrence rates favoring long-term management.

A 6-month cohort study comparing vaginal fumigation combination group (62 patients) and antibiotic alone group (62 patients) in 124 women with recurrent vaginitis. Six-month recurrence rate in the vaginal fumigation combination group was 18.3%, significantly lower than the antibiotic alone group (41.9%), with also restored normal lactobacilli ratio in the vagina.

Key Conclusion

After 8 weeks of treatment, PSQI total scores in the electroacupuncture group improved from 14.2 to 6.8, with sleep latency shortened by an average of 28 minutes. Objective sleep efficiency measured by actigraphy also improved from 78% to 89%.
