Summary
Twenty-eight studies evaluating the impact of acupuncture on the autonomic nervous system using heart rate variability (HRV) were meta-analyzed. After acupuncture, parasympathetic activity indicator (HF) significantly increased, with improved sympathetic/parasympathetic balance (LF/HF ratio).
